How to get complete an OBD Flash Test

To start a test you must:

  1. Have already completed setup.
  2. Have a mobile phone.
  3. Have the ClearWatt OBD device.
  4. If testing PSA or Tesla vehicles, have the necessary extension cables.

After completing the check above, you'll now be able to conduct a test on an EV. Follow the steps below in order:

  1. Click the play button from the home screen of the PKC app and continue.
  2. Select the vehicle that you'd like to test from the dropdown menus and continue.
  3. Locate the OBD port and select the test equipment shown on-screen. If an extension cable is required, the number of extension cable will be shown on screen. All cables are physically labelled.
  4. Plug the OBD device into the port and progress to the next screen.
  5. Use the dropdown menu to select the OBD device - it should appear as "OBDII". If on iOS, you may need to click the button to refresh the list of devices.
  6. Start the scan to identify the vehicle.
  7. Once the vehicle has been identified, follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure that the vehicle is switched on, all doors are closed and the vehicle is not on charge. If any of these steps are not followed the test will fail.
  8. During the data collection process, ensure you pulse the brake pedal to keep the car alive. Ensure you do not switch to another app or lock the screen. Wait until the on-screen countdown completes.
  9. Once the scan has completed, test results will be sent your email inbox.

For Tesla Vehicles

Tesla Model 3/Y vehicles

Tesla vehicles do not have an official OBD port. The diagnostic port on Tesla Model 3 and Y vehicles is normally found behind the centre console. For instructions on how to install our device on these vehicles, watch the following video

Please note, you must power down the vehicle before disconnecting and reconnecting the diagnostic wiring loom in the centre console.

For PSA Vehicles

Ensure you use the PSA adapter (cable 5) during the test.
